Does anyone else have a love/hate relationship with summer break? I get so excited towards the end of the school year to not be racing out the door, yelling at my children to put their shoes on 435363 times. That first week is pure bliss, the lazy mornings, the lack of a schedule, the extra sweets that you justify because, hey it is summer! And then reality kinda settles in… I have to entertain these snack monsters for 2 months. If you know me, you know I am not a good “play/pretend” mom. You want to bake cookies? go to the beach? get our nails painted? I am your gal. You want to play open ended pretend games and I want to run and hide with a bottle of wine. I am the first to say, I am not great at letting my kids “just be” (something I am working on) I like the hustle and bustle of meeting up with my mama friends, going from one activity to the next… but sometimes I know they need downtime (as do I of course) sometimes I know it is good for them to have nothing to do. So this summer break, I am going to embrace the lazy days as much as the busy from morning til dinner days. I am going to give my kiddos a great summer while trying not to break the bank or my sanity. We will head to the beach, we will splash in the pool, we will eat too much ice cream and not enough vegetables, we will spend time with friends and family, we will embrace and be grateful for the chaos! I would love to hear your summer plans! Let’s keep each other sane!
